Knot Letter ___2018~2019

I noted the possibility of knot as a letter such as “Quipu,” a knot letter in the Inca civilization. I combined the principles of consonants, vowels, and adding strokes, which are unique characteristics of Hangeul, with the Korean traditional knot to create our own knot characters.

It was visualized with a manual book of this letter and displayed the front phrase of ‘Hun-min-jeong-eum’ in knot characters, which is a basic book of Hangeul published by King Sejong. Furthermore, I created a vertical writing typeface of this knot letter with Glyphs and designed own web page for it which lets people experience the font and print it on a connected receipt machine.
